Bismillah. Alhumdulillah. Wa Salat Al al-Salam wa rasulullah. We start with the blessed name of Allah, seeking his facilitation and guidance.

Welcome to our second episode of Muslim Mastery Breakthroughs. I’m your breakthrough coach, Zubair Ashraf.

Here is one simple idea that you can tap into anytime to boost your confidence and overcome your fears.

We all want to learn from people who achieved great things. Especially with limited resources at their disposal. Today, I want to bring your attention to someone who has spent years learning how to speak properly. How to communicate. Learned a language while learning how to walk and move around. All of this, despite the fact that everyone around was much ahead and many times they would be amused by his failures. Sounds familiar. I am talking about none other than the child that you were.

In our first episode we shared the idea around how you can start writing and living your empowering mission statement. Role playing the identity of the stronger you. And you gave that identity a name, right? We suggested the action item for you to consciously live that mindset and identity. We suggested some ideas on how you can condition yourself into it. I hope you are following those techniques. We also promised to share some amazing things that you have achieved. And we just did that.

The idea and steps that we are sharing with you are very practical and experimented. We’ve seen it help many achieve breakthroughs and amazing results. The journey itself is amazing and then you will look back at yourself five years from now, you will be super amazed In Shaa Allah.

So this child that you were. Think about it. Isn’t it amazing how most of us learned to walk. Learned to read and write or communicate in a language. Think about a few things around this:

  • How long did it take to learn those skills?
  • Did it happen overnight?
  • Was it a single try?

Glory be to the One who created us with these abilities, this attitude and facilitated all of this learning for us. What are some of the takeaways from this?

You are capable of achieving great things.

Great things are not achieved overnight.

They require patience, consistency, positive attitude, learning from our mistakes and moving on.

Now Allah (swt) says in his book:

Oh you who have believed, seek help with patience and prayer. Indeed Allah is with the ones who are patient. (2:153)

Wanting to make things happen overnight and a quick gratification mindset is what prevents many from reaching their full potential. Another thing that really contributes to this is the state of despair and losing hope. How many of us give up hope of being able to achieve their dreams? Sometimes it based on the judgement of the people around us. Sometimes it’s due to physical limitations and some medical professionals saying that they don’t have a cure for some physical limitations that one may be facing.

My question to you is:

What kind of self-imposed limitations are you living with?

What is it based upon? How many people do you know of, or can you look up on the internet, they were told that they can’t do certain things? But they did it. These could be people who did not do great at school but were super successful business owners. Or those that were told that they cannot have children. But had many after years. If you can’t think of such examples around you, go ahead and look up real people in books or research journals or just search on the internet. The message that I want to share today, is what has been told to us by the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alayhi wasallam. On the authority of Abu Huraira, that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu alayhi wasallam said,

“Allah has appointed a remedy for every disease he has sent down.”

Now some of us may be suffering from the disease of lack of inspiration, lack of motivation or of laziness. Would you like to tell me to tell you some activities that are guaranteed to cure any of these diseases? Guaranteed by whom? By Allah. The Lord. The Creator. The Owner and completely in charge and control of everything that exists.

Firstly, is the prayers, as we just saw in the last verse that we read.

Secondly, the speech of Allah. And specifically from the speech of Allah there are certain specific surah. The chapters. Such as surah Al-Fatiha. Or the last three chapters of Quran. These are specifically taught to us, by the Messenger of Allah, to be a cure. To be a protection. And, in general, the whole Quran is a cure.

Note, we’re not suggesting at all to stop taking any medications that you may already be taking. Once again, we are not suggesting to stop taking any medication that you are already taking.

Allah (SWT) has taught us by his Messenger Sallallahu alayhi wasallam, to seek the cure from medicine as well. What we are talking about is to work and be consistent with the cures that Allah (swt) has guaranteed to work while we are taking our medications. So let’s consciously pay attention to these. Make them our habit, and consciously hold yourself accountable for it.

Finally, as you do these, ask Allah to inspire you with motivation and passion to do things that are specially suited for yourself. As you come across things that excite you, write them down as ideas and dreams that you would love to pursue. Just capture them for now. We’ll talk about how to achieve them in the next part.

To summarize, we discussed how you have done great things already. We reflected on some qualities that you had while you were achieving great things as a child. We talked about some qualities that prevent us from achieving our true potential such as despair and self imposed limitations. We also talked about some guaranteed ways to cure yourself. We talked about capturing ideas that you would like to chase.

Now we encourage you to make these part of your habits and add relevant things in your identity that you will condition yourself to adopt by role playing them. What do I mean by that?

Now consider a future version of yourself.

Let’s call him Omer, or for the sisters, let’s call her Aaisha. Now these are the people – Omar or Aaisha in your specific situation – who is the one who is excelling in these praiseworthy qualities that we are discussing in these episodes? And who’s staying away from the qualities that are preventing him from achieving greatness?

Now what we want you to do is, as you realize these qualities, attitudes, mindsets and habits that you want to see in the future versions of yourself, start capturing them. Essentially, what you will come up with is an image of how Omer is or how Aaisha is.

  • How do they behave in different situations?
  • What kind of attitude and mindset do they have?

So what would happen, then, is whenever you are faced with a choice, ask yourself

‘How would Omer or Aaisha behave in that situation?’

So for example, if you’re feeling low, if you have a setback in life. You tired something, it did not work. Will you, now, judge yourself that you’re not good enough? You’re not worthy of reaching success? Or will you tap into the mindset of Omer or Aaisha, the future version of yourself, and then see how they have in that situation?

  • What kind of attitude would Omer or Aaisha have before going to bed?
  • What kind of rituals would they have?
  • When would they go to bed?
  • Would they be in the state of wudu?
  • Do their remembrance of Allah as recommended or would they just fall asleep while watching TV?
  • When would they wake up?
  • What would their morning ritual be?
  • Would that consist of spending time with Allah?
  • Spending time building their spirituality?
  • Engaging in supplication and conversation with Allah?
  • What kind of breakfast would they have?
  • What kind of workout routine or physical activity routine would they have?

So just ask these questions in all aspects

So from this episode, these are the items that I am putting down in my identity;

I have done great things in my past firstly by the facilitation of Allah, then, by my consistent efforts. Allah has chosen to create me, there is a unique way for me to contribute on this earth.

I will get divine guidance by engaging in salah, the prayers, while fully present and being consistent in my efforts.

I will consistently and cautiously ask Allah for guidance, direction and facilitation

I will share my state, my story, my condition with my Lord. Although he knows everything, I will pour my heart out in dua, in my supplications to him and ask him to direct my affairs. To present me with the right opportunities, right companions, right friends, right partners and help me to make the right decision.

I will consciously read Qur’an and have the intention to get cure from all known, and unknown diseases that I may have. I will work on making my identity following the mindset, behaviour, and actions of the people loved by Allah. The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them.

Lastly, my question to you is;

can you see, if you were to do theses steps mentioned in this episode, it will get you closer to your breakthroughs and living an empowered life?

If you do, will you take action?
Subhaanaka Allaahumma wa bihamdika, ‘ash-hadu ‘an laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta, ‘astaghfiruka wa ‘atoobu ‘ilayka
